Gifted designer Maheen Karim talks about her life-long love for  jewellery and cracks open her vault for us!

How/When did you get interested in jewellery?

I have always loved jewellery since I was a child. I used to love dressing up in my mother’s heels and accessories, and she loved watching me play dress-up because she was exactly the same way.

What are your favourite pieces of jewellery (precious
    or costume)?

I have many favourite pieces, but of course those with sentimental value are the most precious to me. There is a diamond pendant that I bought from my first pay-cheque working at Escada in London, a diamond ring which was the first diamond piece my mother gave me, earrings that were an engagement present from my sister and brother-in-law to me, an artificial bracelet that I fell in love with at a random market, and a watch that I have wanted for many years and just recently purchased myself.

Is there any piece you are emotionally attached to and why?

These pieces are all close to my heart, since they are special and stunning pieces that my family has selected for me with love, and presented to me on momentous occasions.
