    A Tough, but conflicted man

    The Wagon Train comes very close to having to get along once again without its wagonmaster as John McIntire gets himself shot on a mountaintop. For reasons I'm not quite sure as he is the wagonmaster and his first responsibility is the Wagon Train he guides railroad president Peter Falk and his younger brother Tommy Sands to the top of a mountain so they can survey possible railroad sites. Then as they're going down the mountain Sands accidentally trips and shoots McIntire. As the snows start, so does the drama.

    I won't say more as the drama does get real intense and the pressure is particularly on Falk. It would have made far better sense to have either Terry Wilson or Denny Miller doing the guide work. Still the brothers have a lot of issues and Falk delivers a really good performance as a tough, but conflicted man.
